Measuring ingredients in the
kitchen has most of the time been done by using thumb rules, tea spoons and
cups. However, a Kitchen scale, although a basic equipment for most kitchens,
is one of the most important pieces of equipment to have great consistency in
the taste of food.? ?
To give you an example that can
be tried practically ? Measure a cup of flour.
When you use only a cup to do
the measurement although the cup looks full, the weight of the flour per cup
when measured using a digital scale might not be the same and can have a
difference of up to 30%.
This is because an ingredient
like flour when loosely packed has many air particles in between making the cup
look full but with less quantity making a difference in the overall taste and
quality of the food.
The measuring scale also helps
to measure the right amount and also reduces any wastage of over using
expensive ingredients while also ensuring a healthy food diet.?
